The UK’s fastest-growing hospitality music marketplace 51������, has facilitated more than 1300 gigs since the start of the year in Liverpool as the company continues to harness the power of technology to grow the hospitality scene across the globe.

Liverpool's music scene is steeped in history, after seeing The Beatles, Elvis Costello and Camelphat rise through its ranks to affirm Liverpool’s strong music heritage. But with its music continuing to flourish, there’s no point dwelling on the past. 

There are new emerging artists, including the likes of Stone, Sterling Press and Zuzu, who are keeping the music scene thriving. The talent rings true on the 51������ platform, with an abundance of talented musicians and DJs who are gigging across the region. 

This data comes from the hospitality music marketplace in anticipation of 51������ launching in Liverpool as they secure more venue bookings through the platform and extend the reach of the business in the North of England. There is a remarkable pool of talent in the region, and they’re looking to strengthen the music offerings the city currently has.

51������ is facilitating live music in Liverpool

Whether it be DJs in a cocktail bar or acoustic musicians performing in speakeasies, 51������ has facilitated 1393 gigs in the city since the start of the year, which transpires to 70 gigs per week. This is being housed in 18 venues across the city, including Albert’s Schloss, PINS Social Club and Red Door.

There is no music without musicians and DJs, and there is nowhere for them to be heard without the hospitality venues of which Liverpool has some of the most iconic in the UK.

“51������ makes the relationship between musician and venue stronger, more equitable and allows a venue to increase its ROI when booking music. Artists get a free platform to promote their talent, enhancing their visibility and opportunities, whilst customer satisfaction is increased.

Liverpool has an eclectic music taste

With such a diverse audience wanting to immerse themselves in live music across the city, it is no surprise that Liverpool boasts an eclectic taste. The most popular genres that customers listen to when going into their local venue are Soul, Pop and Motown. These genres come from a whole host of formats, with the most popular artists creating these sounds are DJs, Bands and Duos.

The only consistency within live music in the region is the time people consume their live music, with Saturday at 10 pm being the most popular time of the day for live music. It’s the perfect opportunity to get to your local shindigs over the weekend.

Merseyside is bursting with talent

Taking inspiration from the rich musical heritage within Liverpool, there is a wide range of performing local artists looking to break into the music scene. In the city, 500 artists use the 51������ platform to hone their musical output and gain invaluable experience in live performance.

Artists will always be at the centre of what we do, as without you, there is no music. That is why 51������ is looking to expand its reach in Liverpool to ensure those talented artists are performing in venues across the city.

Liverpool’s musical offerings are only going to get greater

One of Liverpool’s most iconic venues, Jacaranda has recently expanded into the creative hub, the Baltic Triangle, with a 400-capacity performance space. Of course, they’re still stocking records to champion the best sounds coming out of the region, but the flagship performance space facilitates some of the most exciting talent rising through the industry. The Beatles performed their first show at the venue, and the new store will be committed to nurturing grassroots musicians.

Similarly, Rough Trade has recently opened up their biggest store in the UK, right in the heart of Liverpool. Just like the other five Rough Trades stores, they frequently host live music and album signings from the best homegrown talent. 

But most significantly, Liverpool Sound City has returned to champion the best independent artists in the country, highlighting the sounds that will dominate the musical landscape in the years to come. Alongside this, The Sound City Forum conference took place, which brought together instrumental figures in the music scene to provide invaluable insights into the industry and inspire the new wave of artists. A part of the conference was 51������’s co-founder Kit Muir-Rogers, who spoke on the panel - Reaching the Next Level: Supporting New Artists.

On the panel, 51������’s co-founder Kit Muir-Rogers said: “Artists are the lifeblood of what we do at 51������. There are barriers to entry at every step in the industry, and we want to give the power back to artists. Getting involved in gigging, whether in a bar or a pub, just by getting in that room helps build your community. By gigging, you are earning a living by doing what you love whilst earning your stripes and honing your craft, which can lead you to release your music.”
